Building relations with international power community at Powering Africa Summit

The Powering Africa Summit (PAS) will be held from 24-26 February 2020 in Miami, discussing investment opportunities and building relationships within the international power and energy community

The summit focuses on attracting around 370 investors from across North America, Africa and Europe. The summit will welcome 12 African ministries including nine ministers of energy and 12 heads of utilities and high level US representatives from USTDA, USAID, USADF, DFC, MCC, US Exim Bank, Power Africa and the US Chamber of Commerce.

The programme will allow the audience to hear updates from the latest topics in Africa, including adoption of innovative technology and discussion on financing energy projects.

As the only Africa-US networking platform of its kind, the summit has become the must-attend event for African governments, developers and investors to source credible American technology partners for projects across the continent.

Every year the meeting is co-located with the fourth Latin American Energy Forum which focuses on regional investment structures across the continent with stakeholders from Bolivia, Argentina, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Peru and Brazil attending in 2018.

The fourth Latin America Energy Forum held in Miami will address the needs of Latin America's evolving energy sector, exploring the evolution of the region’s energy mix and the role of gas in supporting the increased use of nonconventional renewables.

In the last five years, Miami has established a major technology and innovation hub for the country as well as a creating a dynamic and impactful entrepreneurs programme which is creating several opportunities and an environment which many African nations could explore and potentially consider as a development model and partner.

Miami’s energy mix is a highly efficient blend of gas, coal, nuclear and renewables, with gas by far playing the biggest role. It is therefore going to be exciting to see how Miami developed its gas sector and the technologies that made it happen and brought those molecules to the market.
