Multinational tobacco group, British American Tobacco, has been named as top employer in Africa for 2014

Based on independent research by the Top Employers Institute, the company was reported to offer its employees good working conditions and provides excellent staff support.

The Top Employers Institute certifies excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people, it said.

The company has just completed this year’s research into the employee conditions of a large number of employers in Africa.

British American Tobacco has been named Top Employer Africa 2014 in Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Companies participating in the Top Employers process must meet stringent research criteria in order to receive the certification, according to British American Tobacco.

“Our comprehensive research concluded that British American Tobacco provided an outstanding employment environment and nurtures and develops talent throughout all levels of the organisation," said Samantha Crous, Regional Director for the Top Employers Institute in Africa & Benelux.

"The international recognition as a Top Employer Africa sends a strong message to their staff and all other stakeholders that this company greatly values their people and that their employee conditions are at the highest standard."
