The contract will run over a 36-month period and include the Multiple Protocol Labelling Switch for 58 sites over fibre, microwave, satellite and WiMax networks.
The appointment followed a rigorous selection process by Southern Sun Hotels to identify the best suited technology provider that would address its business needs. "We wanted a true converged service provider, able to offer flexible and scalable solutions to meet both the needs of our guest internet technology services, as well as our own unique corporate requirements." says Sandi Macfie, Southern Sun Hotels' I.T. Director.
Stringent "end-to-end" service level agreements were an important consideration, and Vodacom Business' offer afforded us the best blend of next-generation converged mobile services and infrastructure that can be used over our entire network without relying on other service providers'," says Macfie.
"Delivering exceptional guest service is fundamental to Southern Sun Hotels, and partnerships which support this strategy, particularly though innovative and dynamic solutions, are imperative. We believe that Vodacom Business has the right infrastructure in place to promote our industry," she adds.
Steven Hayward, Executive Director of Vodacom Business, is pleased with the success of Vodacom Business' progress in a heavily contested market. "When Vodacom Business was launched in 2008, the objective was to lead with a converged solutions strategy in the market place," he said. According to Hayward, meeting the growing demand for broadband is vital, as is tailor making solutions according to customer need and providing a total converged end-to-end service.
"We adapted our solutions to provide everything a business in the hospitality industry needs to connect and operate their business, including solutions like fixed, wireless or mobile connectivity through ADSL, WiMax or 3G, as well as voice calling plans and email solutions. Our broadband Internet access products, hosting solutions and WiFi Hotspots are well suited to the needs of hotels and B&Bs. We are looking forward to a great partnership in servicing Southern Sun Hotels," said Hayward.
