Aliko Dangote bags Ernst & Young award

Dangote Group president Aliko Dangote has been honoured with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for West Africa

Lawyer and principal partner in GM Ibru & Co, Goddie Ibru, bagged the Life Achievement award.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Ernst & Young regional managing partner for West Africa, Henry Egbeki, said the award was to celebrate the winners for their contribution in creating value and wealth through employment in the West African region.

“Those that were selected had been able to turn challenges to opportunities over the years,” he added.

Egbeki pointed out that the award would enable the awardees to compete globally in Montreal, Canada in 2013.

On his part, Ibru, commended Ernst & Young for its contribution towards developing entrepreneurship in the region.

Dangote also won the Masters Award at the event, with group managing director of the company, Knut Ulvmoen, describing the honour as a chance to show the world that Africa could compete globally in terms of business investment.
