The afternoon event gathered a number of CXOs from the SMB sector who were addressed by a line of speakers with vast business experience. The event covered the areas of new efficiencies in finance, resource management and innovation, as well as hosting interactive sessions that took a practical look at tools to help businesses drive for greater efficiency.

The seminar saw the launch of the new range of OKI colour printers, the C300 and C500 series. Building on its unrivalled experience and expertise of the SMB market, the new C300 and C500 series are once again taking printer performance and value to a new level in helping SMBs to compete effectively with their larger counterparts in a tougher economic and competitive environment.

“Printing is very often overlooked when efficiency is addressed. While in fact, the biggest unmeasured cost in an organization is printing, which can hemorrhage the capital expenditure if not managed and controlled properly,” said John Ross, General Manager of OKI Printing Solutions in the Middle East, India and East North Africa. “The recent Centre for Economics and Business Research (cebr) report commissioned by OKI showed earlier that a country like the UAE can save up to $110 million and spare the environment 9,000 tonnes of CO2 if business printing was more efficiently managed.”

“We’re offering products that help businesses compete more effectively when their services are professionally presented and their customers’ needs are swiftly met,” added Ross.

Transforming the bottom line
Binod Shankar CFA, MD of Genesis Institute stressed that managing finances was critical these days. He highlighted how analyzing your cost structure coupled with financial planning could transform the bottom line in a SMB. He exploded many common myths in budgeting and stated budgeting is actually a strategic, firm wide exercise very closely tied to business objectives.

Carol Talbot, Director at Matrix Training Solutions gave a refreshing interactive session about how to achieve success through changing mindsets.
“Success begins in the mind. In this competitive age of infinite choices, it’s vital for individuals and businesses to focus on what they really want and explore new ways to achieve it,” said Talbot.

Jennifer Baxavanis, the head of BAX Consultancy LLC, discussed the importance of sales training in order for sales persons to be more capacitated to close more deals and secure more business contracts.

“Effectiveness is achieved through continual skills based training and goal setting,” says Jennifer. “Sales training can quadruple an organisation’s bottom line and enable employees to faithfully represent their company.”

The event discussed the importance of staff empowerment and motivation in achieving business efficiency. Vivienne Strettle from KVS Consultancy explained how valuing each employee in any organization, no matter where he/she sits in the hierarchy, directly impacts its productivity.

“A typical company balance sheet shows assets as buildings or pieces of equipment, but more and more companies are starting to understand that the real value of a business its life blood is its people,” commented Strettle.
