First MAN TopUsed franchise dealership opens in South Africa

The first private-capital MAN TopUsed dealership has been opened in Port Elizabeth, South Africa

The decision was made by MAN Truck & Bus South Africa to issue its first independent TopUsed franchise after parent company MAN AG assigned priority status to its TopUsed vehicle division in the country. 

Commenting on the move, Geoff du Plessis, managing director of MAN Truck & Bus South Africa, said, “MAN has always recognised the importance of a proprietary used vehicle division as a value driver in the sale of its new trucks and buses.

“Having a MAN TopUsed dealership in Port Elizabeth linked to one of our most successful private-capital dealer partners will significantly enhance our market offering in the Eastern Cape region.”

The franchise contract was awarded to Port Elizabeth Truck & Bus, formerly known as AAD Truck & Bus – a subsidiary of AAD Group (Pty) Ltd, which had been an independent MAN dealership since 2008.

The deal was originally signed in December 2014, from which time preparations have been going on to accommodate the corporate identity of MAN TopUsed.
